Critics inside, that inner voice of doubt and persistent fear loves to be right! Being right, this nagging selfish, is associated with being worthy. To feel worthy must be good! At the expense of everything you want in life. Would you rather be right or happy?
Being right is one thing or the equation for most. "Either I'm right or right: If you are right then what does that make me?" And the critic responds with "not good (or smart) enough." So fight for their righteousness to feel better about yourself. You see people fighting to be right in their personal and professional life. Heck, turn on the TV and find plenty of people sounding off on his rectitude in talk shows and news programs. Much comedy programming that is based on a character is trying to prove he's right about one thing stupid.
"Do not find fault. Finding remedy. "- Henry Ford
The truth is that not one thing or the world. It is a world in Yahoo! You may be right and let the other person be fine too! You can get your point of view of effective communication without the other person wrong. This capability is one of the key secrets to turn your dreams into reality. I Here's an example.
A man runs to the local FedEx station with three Golf Clubs bound, wrapped in brown paper with a proper shipping label pasted about half of the package. He is running because the last pickup of the day is in a minute or two and he has to get these clubs to his brother in another state, more by tomorrow morning.
The FedEx employee says he can not send the packed clubs and so will have to bring them back into the packaging in a appropriate FedEx box. So the man yells and screams at employees "These clubs are very well wrapped and you can easily read the label to see where they have to go! You're wasting your time on your stupid rules! I have to get these clubs to my brother, tomorrow morning or it will not be able to play in the tournament! to discuss, the last scheduled pick-up the day comes and goes without golf clubs. The man was right, it would be easy to send to clubs as they were. So, who won? Nobody. The man did not get the clubs sent to his brother in time. FedEx lost a customer that day.
How could this scenario have had to that man would still be appropriate and clubs get sent to the pick-up last?
When told that he must have clubs in a box Appropriate FedEx might have answered: "I understand (allowing the FedEx employee right) and here is my problem. If these clubs do not get my brother for the tomorrow morning will not be able to play in the tournament who has dreamed all his life! "With the acknowledgment that he was right, the FedEx employee has good feelings of the man before him and wants to help. People want to help others when they can. He responds: "I see fill this new shipping label, while that I run back and tell the pick-up type to wait a minute. I think we have an extra box in the back somewhere that you can use. "
Employee FedEx is correct. Man clubs to his brother in time and is happy, the goal accomplished!
"The first duty of a wise advocate is to convince his opponents he understands their arguments, and agree with their feelings right "- Samuel Taylor Coleridge
Leave to be right. Is your ego, your inner critic, that grows from being right all the time. Focus on what you want. The man in the above example wanted to send to clubs to his brother that day. Without doing the FedEx employee, or himself, he got what he badly wanted. It allowed both to be right!
Try this approach in their daily lives. See how to let go the right ill be doing the other, delivers more of the good experiences you want to be and less of the bad experiences. Allowing others to be right also entitles you!
