What is the best way to remove rust from Golf Clubs without having to remove the paint, too?

These are for Ping Eye 2 golf clubs that have rusted, but I will not remove paint from the clubs, only rust. I have read that vinegar work, but would remove the paint. Does anyone have any better suggestion? Thanks in advance!
