Golf Clubs WHAT DO THE NUMBERS MEAN AND HOW FAR SHOULD A BALL TRAVEL WHEN HIT BY A CLUB?
With irons the higher the number the greater the loft, so the ball goes higher but not as far, this is also true of the woods. How far the ball will travel when you hit it depends on you, the club and the type of ball used but generally you could expect about 150+ yards with a five iron and maybe 95 – 100 yards with a nine iron. But as I said you really need to go to a driving range and see how far you can hit with your clubs.
