Can someone help me chose a Golf Driver.?
i am a 17 year old high school golf player i recently got back from looking at colleges in the south i looked at clemson and played golf at the on campus Golf Course and loved it. i didn’t bring down my clubs so we rented some. i got on the first tee and hit the ball 300 yards with a old ping driver guessing around not long before the si3 series. however i have never hot my taylormade burner that far. i found out that it was a stiff shaft and my taylormade had a regular shaft. not the best thing to use when i have a 110mph swing. i never knew the flexes made that much of a difference. needless to say i need a new driver. i love taylormade so ill prob stick to them. i am undecided on getting the tour burner ( kinda like the smaller head size) or the 2009 burner both seem like good clubs. open to another suggestions in drivers as well. i am a golfer of 3 years and a 11 handicap. any suggestions that could help narrow down or make a choice would be very helpful.
You can’t go wrong with Taylormade. I have heard both good and bad about both drivers. My friend had the Tour Burner and absolutely hated it. But, some people like it. I’m not much of a fan of it. I definitely prefer the 2009 version. I think that it has great attributes from both of the previous two Burners. It keeps the forgiveness and accuracy of the 2007 Burner, and the workability that the 2008 Tour Burner had. I think that the 2009 has a more consistent ball flight than the 2008. The 2009 also kept the dual crown technology that was introduced in the 2008. Overall, I think if you want to save a couple bucks and get a little more workability, I would go with the 2008. But, if you want a little more distance and accuracy, I’d go with the 2009. One thing to watch out for though, is that the 2009 has a slightly longer shaft. But, As an 11 handicapper that may bot be much of an issue. Also, you might want to consider even stepping up to a X-Stiff shaft. You already hit the ball over 300, so why not give yourself an extra chance to get yourself into the fairway. It doesn’t matter if your at 352 yards, but in the rough, OB, or behind a tree. Take a few yards less and stay in the fairway. Your only 17 so something tells me that within the next couple years you’ll be swinging even harder. Good luck with your decision.
