What size Golf Clubs should I use?
I would like to get into golf and would like to buy some clubs.
I’m an 18 yr old female but i’m only 5 ft 2 inches so should I buy ladies clubs or junior?
I do live in the UK.
Are there any clubs anyone can recommend for me starting out?
5′2″ should certainly be tall enough that you can adjust a normal-sized ladies’ set to fit, so I’d go for those.
American Golf may be the most accessible but not all of their sales staff are as well trained as a PGA professional, so when it comes time to buy a decent set, you should go to a club pro for a fitting.
However, realistically you’ll almost certainly be best off buying an “off the shelf” set for the moment if you’re only just starting out – NB it might be worth asking at a club pro shop how much it would cost to get half an inch taken off your set (typically around £5-7 per club). If you need everything – irons, woods, putter, bag etc – a package set would be a good start. Which one you should buy depends on how much you want to spend.
If you’ve never played at all, you should probably keep the outlay to a minimum for now. A half-set may be enough – for example this one:

Unlike the other makes this shop carries (Texan, Chicago, Confidence), I’ve actually heard of Prosimmon – my own starter set was by them. Quality might well not be up to the bigger names – dont blame me if they fall apart in six months! – but if you want a cheap way in, they could be worth a try.
When you get better, and have saved up, you’ll probably want to upgrade to a “name” set (the choice is limited only by your purse), but for now the key thing is probably to get some cheap clubs just so that you’re playing with one consistent set rather than having to borrow/hire them all the time.
