Bad credit score and applying for luxury apartment homes?
Ok here is the deal. I am a 23 yr old female that graduated in May. I was late enough on one credit card in college that it got reported to a credit bureau and affected my score. Now it is in the low 500s. I make good money for the amount of rent for nice places (50k- average rent=780). I now have to move to a new city that I am unfamiliar with because of work. For that reason I really want a nice apartment for safety reasons and convenience. I have been looking in planned golf/country club communities with restaurants and stores in walking distance. I applied to one, but got denied. Will this be the same story for all nice “luxury” apartments. I really don’t want to live in a dump or an area that is not in a nice neighborhood.
You won’t find any apartments at all in complexes they have managers who will check references. You might be able to rent something from a private person who doesn’t think they need to check credit or you might get a responsible person to cosign so if you default they can collect from them. Having a good income doesn’t mean you will pay the rent, it will take a few years to earn a good reputation.
