I have a Golf Cart 36 volts. Can I add a 6 volt battery, and run it from a switch to 42 volts? in demand?

You can absolutely. But you smoke at least half a dozen components in the moment with the button and perhaps a dozen more in a few seconds. Almost everything in your electrical system is designed and built to carry 36VDC. If it gets bad things will happen, very bad, very expensive things.
