If you have cancer, could a simple blood sample?

My girlfriend / wife had done a blood test about 2 months and has become normal. About 9 days a cold (I think its a cold) and had a runny nose, nasal discharge is now gone but coughs a lot (sometimes spits mucus and has a sore throat). The doctor took a chest radiograph and is a kind of tumor in the lung (perhaps a little more bigger than a golf ball or at worst the size of a tennis ball). My question is: could be a tumor (cancer), even the blood test came back normal? She is the love of my life and I am so stressed. Could a tumor in the lung threateting life? Happy Easter Everyone.
