Physics-Golf Ball Question?
A sports equipment maker is marketing the “Straight Arrow” golf ball that promises to reduce the chance of hitting a curving shot into the woods. The secret to this game enhancer is:
(a) A dimple pattern that is less effective in energizing the laminar boundary layer and creating lift.
(b) A low friction coating on the skin that reduces drag.
(c) A multilayer core that damps vibrations.
The answer is (a). I don’t know why but I had the same question for my homework and that’s the right answer. Sorry if you need an explanation.
