Can I use car batteries in my Golf Cart?
my friend is giving me a 36v Cushman golf cart and I can not buy a charger and 6 batteries so I wanted to know if I can put 3 12V batteries in place of 6 batteries 6V Could he get 3 12V deep cycle batteries instead of 6 6v deep cycle batteries
Like the person above said. You absolutely will need deep cycle batteries. Car batteries are designed to provide the power that most deep cycle batteries, can never achieve, but only for a few seconds to turn the engine over. After So the alternator does all the work. Deep cycle batteries are designed to be fully decharge fully charged again and again and can support hundreds and hundreds cycle as that in their lifetime whereas car batteries are quite kicked after they have been fully decharge. Car batteries will not work for implementation. You need batteries or designed for a golf cart or some marine batteries. And yes, you definitely need a charger. If it was a cart gas golf connected to an alternator …. it would be a different story.
